MY POEMS and OTHERS

DON'T YOU HEAR THE CHILDREN
In a world of their own
Full of anger, hurt, and pain
The seeds of deceit are sown
Think they are the ones to blame
Don't you here the children
Crying in the night.
Don't you hear the children
To little and scared to fight
In this life they could not cope
So then in comes another
There was always a ray of hope
Don't you hear the children
Growing wiser beyond their years
Don't you hear the children
Holding back the deeply buried tears
As the years go by as do the tides
They stat the same trapped by the lies
More than one inside they hide
No one listens to the heart breaking cries
Won't you hear the children
Reach out, touch, believe and love
Won't you hear the children
And free them from their pain.

A PRAYER FOR THE CHILDREN
We pray for the Children
who sneak popsicles before supper,
who erase holes in math workbooks,
who can never find their shoes.
And we pray for those
who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire,
who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers,
who never "counted potatoes,"
who are born in places where we wouldn't be caught dead,
who never go to the circus,
who live in an X-rated world.
We pray for children
who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions,
who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money.
And we pray for those who never get dessert,
who have no safe blanket to drag behind them,
who watch their parents watch them die,
who can't find any bread to steal,
who don't have any rooms to clean up,
whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser,
whose monsters are real.
We pray for children
who spend all their allowance before Tuesday,
who throw tantrums in the grocery store
and pick at their food,
who like ghost stories,
who shove dirty clothes under the bed,
who never rinse out the tub,
who get visits from the tooth fairy,
who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool,
who squirm in church and scream into the phone,
whose tears we sometimes laugh at and
whose smiles can make us cry.
And we pray for those
whose nightmares come in the daytime,
who will eat anything,
who have never seen a dentist,
who aren't spoiled by anybody,
who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep,
who live and move, but have no being.
We pray for children
who want to be carried and for those who must,
who we never give up on,
and for those who don't get a second chance.
For those we smother and . . .
for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer it.

Tears of Triumph
Slowly and triumphantly the tears roll down her face
with the burden of the past; gone without a trace,
with nights of terrors and nights of pain
the horrified memories are at last erased,
with the sweat of anguish she fought the fight
to banish the memories that were trapped inside,
moment by moment
day by day
the pain she felt is beyond what I can say,
night by night
day by day
the secrets were unlocked and caused hearts to break
with the tears of sweat that rolled down her head
they all joined together and made their bed,
one by one they went to sleep
and they knew their job was done and there was no more need,
with the memories of the past finally destroyed,
she can now be at rest with fear no more,
with the help of the group
and the help of a friend
she now sheds the tears of greatest triumphant.....

The Survivors
as they sit upon the desk with pride
painful memories flood the mind
with abuse and fear haunting their mind
they sit up tall with freedom and pride
years and years have passed them by
a constant struggle, yet they survive,
day by day the cope with the memories
never holding back, it won't last for eternity,
together they hold on
together they survive
never taking for granted each day that goes by
together they work
together the pray
to get rid of the memories they hold till this day,
together they work, to hold a family
making sure everyone is loved properly,
with no one holding them back
they will see
the day they with
over the pain and misery
